Who writes Daily Word?
Daily Word is written by a dedicated team of spiritual writers who provide daily prayers and inspiration to help people live true to their divine potential. Our goal is to remind readers of the Truth of their being and provide practical, spiritual tools to live life fully with ease and grace.
Within our daily affirmations and messages, the name of the writer is never indicated—a tradition that began when the first Daily Word was published in July 1924. This is because each writer is a channel for the expression of Spirit, and the truth they share is universal. If you are interested in writing opportunities with the magazine, please download the Daily Word writers' guidelines.
Who publishes Daily Word?
Daily Word is published by Unity. Located in the Midwest and serving a worldwide audience, Unity is a positive path for spiritual living that provides practical teachings to help people discover and live their spiritual purpose and potential. Unity encompasses the belief that prayer works, and strives to help people realize a stronger connection to God every day. To learn more about Unity, visit www.unity.org.
Unity School of Christianity has long taught that affirming statements of Truth allows one to grow into his or her divine potential. Daily Word developed from this concept.
Daily Word officially launched in 1924 and included daily messages of hope, spiritual poetry and feature articles—primarily written by its editor, Frank B. Whitney. Daily Word began with a subscription list of 16,000 people, but within a year, the list had grown to 43,000. Today, Daily Word is read in 150 countries and translated into six languages. In its nearly 90 years of continual publication, it has been read by tens of millions of people throughout the world.
In its first issue, Lowell Fillmore, son of Unity founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, wrote:
“God made man in his own image and likeness. Since God is perfect, man in his true estate must also be perfect. By our thoughts and our words we can identify ourselves with the perfection of this true self or we can identify ourselves with mortal limitations. “… as he thinketh within himself, so is he.”
It is our fondest hope that the daily messages lift you up, remind you of your divine nature, and open new possibilities for your life.
“There is nothing quite like that feeling when you open the day's page of Daily Word and it feels as though it was written just for you ... amazing.—Ellen, from the Internet
“The words of Daily Word, either in my email inbox or in the magazine that rests next to my bed, always bring me light. Thank you!—Marci, New Jersey
